Hammers United have received a response from the club regarding the crest from the Bobby Moore Stand. We are in ongoing communication with the club again and we hope they will consider acquiring this piece of history.

That price is a liberty for something that was basically lifted off a building site for nishmans. It's in a lockup for fuck's sake.

When you say ‘discovered’, does that mean someone’s mate who pinched it and has it in his garage has worked out that he could earn a decent bit of cash for something that nobody really wanted.

This item is of no use/interest to anyone except the club (not the type of thing a "real" fan would put on their bedroom or shed wall, is it?). West Ham clearly decided it was tat, which is why they didn't sell it earlier.
The club should just tell the current owner to fuck off but if he wants to donate it to the club/museum for free, it will be adorned with an annotation identifying him as the donor.
Otherwise, let him enjoy the lock-up fees for storing shit.

Not sure why the club should be asked or forced to pay to buy back something:
A) they already auctioned off
B) someone nicked while the stadium was being demolished
C) they threw away
Why can’t the current owner of the crest just offer to give it back, if they don’t want it or the club might?

Was this really still on the side of the BML when we left? It's not been our crest since 1999.
I've got no idea - I never looked at it when walking in.

To be honest, I don't think HC should be putting any pressure on the club over this - it's going to come across as bitching if the club show no interest and HC push back.
Act as intermediaries by all means, get to a position where the crest is available then let the club make the choice.

Update - Bobby Moore Stand Crest
We have been inundated with requests to raise the necessary funds and purchase this fantastic part of West Ham’s heritage.
We will therefore meet the seller’s price of £8750.and are trying to contact the seller accordingly.Removal fees and costs of mounting the crest will of course add a few hundred pounds to costs.
We continue to liaise with The West Ham United Supporters Club exploring the possibility of mounting the plaque on the side of the old supporters club.This would be symbolic,only a very few yards from its original home on the Bobby Moore Stand.
Should we need help in raising funds we will let you know.

We told them to stick the price as we thought it too high.Many contacted us saying we should have paid the price.One member has contacted us saying agree to the price and he will buy it for us.We have phoned the seller but havnt been able to speak to him yet and will try again tomorrow.
